The Dark Hours

2014

There is a Japanese proverb that states “darkness reigns at the foot of the lighthouse.”
A lighthouse is seen as a beacon of safety and hope, but also signifies imminent danger."
It warns that the area surrounding should be avoided.

I seek to explore this in the way landscapes transform after dark.
Security lights and halogen street lamps change the psychology of otherwise familiar places.
The glow of these lights serve to direct your attention to the depths of night,
and prompt you to think about what cannot be seen.
